Can a Track Saw Cut Aluminum, Metal or Plastic?
Some track saws are approved for particular non-wood materials with specified blades and precautions. That does not mean every track saw can cut metal, and aluminum approval is not steel approval. Treat the exact saw manual, blade specification and material information as a combined requirement before considering the operation.

Metal is too broad a description for choosing a cutting setup. Identify the alloy or product, its form, thickness, coating and whether it contains other materials. Likewise, plastic can refer to products with very different machining behavior. Do not use a general search result as approval for an unknown panel or extrusion. If the material cannot be identified, the safe decision is to obtain that information or use an appropriate specialist service, not to try a spare woodworking blade.
Require explicit permission for the exact saw

The presence of a guide rail does not change the machine into a dedicated metal-cutting saw.
Reassess chips, extraction and the workspace
A collection setup used for wood dust should not automatically be carried into another material. Read the saw and extractor instructions for prohibited materials, chip handling and required accessories. Keep the work area appropriate to the operation and address any incompatible residue before proceeding. This is one reason a seemingly simple blade change can alter the whole workflow. Do not assume the dust bag, hose or vacuum is suitable merely because the same port is available on the saw.
Check workholding for the actual shape
An extrusion or small plastic component may offer far less stable support than a plywood sheet. A long rail does not solve that problem by itself. Use only the documented support and clamping method for the tool and material, keeping hardware clear of the blade. If the work cannot support the base and rail as required, choose a machine or fixture intended for the shape. Do not hold a small section by hand to make up for an unsuitable setup.
Choose a dedicated method when approval is missing
There is no need to force a track saw into every cutting job. A tool designed for the identified material may provide the documented blade, support and chip-handling arrangement you need. When comparing costs, include the required accessories and preparation rather than only the price of a new blade. If the exact operation remains unconfirmed after reading the manuals, ask the manufacturer with the full model and material details. Uncertainty should remain visible in the decision rather than being converted into an optimistic compatibility claim.
