Identify the actual board
Plain MDF, moisture-resistant MDF, coated panels and veneered boards are not interchangeable descriptions. Check the board supplier's handling information and identify any surface that needs protection. If the panel is already painted or laminated, the face finish adds another cutting requirement. Record the real thickness instead of relying only on the nominal label. This matters when setting depth and when fitting the finished part into a groove, opening or cabinet assembly that has little tolerance for an oversized component.
Design extraction into the workspace
Fit the saw's specified extraction connection to an appropriate extractor and filter arrangement. A hose that fits loosely can leak or detach, while an overly rigid adapter may catch the rail or pull on the saw. Place the extractor so the hose has a clear route throughout the cut.
