TS 60 adds features that need an actual use case

Festool documents KickbackStop and FSK crosscut-guide compatibility on TS 60 KEB. Those are concrete differences to investigate. FSK suitability can matter if your plan includes the supported crosscut system; it matters less if every cut is made along an ordinary long guide rail.

KickbackStop should be understood through the manufacturer’s instructions as a protective feature, not immunity from unsafe setup. Choosing it can be reasonable without claiming that the older saw is unusable or that all operating risks disappear.

Do not mix quoted depth conditions

Festool’s TS 60 page gives capacity information with different context for rail use and bevel cutting. The useful number is the capacity at the exact condition you need, not the largest depth printed anywhere on the page.

Measure the finished material and check the intended angle. If a requirement falls close to the documented limit, resolve the condition in the manual before purchase. The extra reach only has practical value when it applies to the cut you are planning.

Blades and accessories need a fresh check

A change within the same brand does not make every consumable interchangeable. TS 55 and TS 60 blade requirements must remain tied to their exact models. Verify diameter and the other specified blade dimensions instead of moving an old blade across because the arbor appears to fit.

Review existing rails, stops, splinter guards and extraction connections individually. Supported reuse can reduce the cost of changing saws, while one incompatible accessory can alter the expected total. Keep that inventory separate from the price of the new body.

An upgrade budget should include the parts it changes

Write a reuse list and a replacement list before ordering a new body. A supported existing accessory can remain useful, while a model-specific blade or guard must follow the new requirements. Add any changed consumables to the upgrade total. This makes the value of the TS 60 feature you want easier to assess: the question is whether it justifies the complete transition, not merely the difference between two saw-only advertisements.

A practical upgrade decision

Keep the TS 55 FEQ when it meets your cut list and the unresolved issues are worn consumables, support or setup. Investigate TS 60 KEB when a documented feature removes a recurring limitation. For a first system, compare equivalent ready-to-use kits and the accessories actually needed.
